AudioCodes Mediant Module is popularly known as Mediant 1000 Modular Gateway. Seamless connection between IP-PBX to the PSTN and connection to legacy telephones using superior voice-technology is provided by this model. The product can also serve as an IP-PBX platform and are used for hosting partner applications at the same point of time. Moreover, it works perfectly with firewalls, Session Border Controllers, IP phones, proxy servers, gatekeepers, Softswitches and multiple vendor gateways. Scalability demands put forth by enterprises and service providers can be met with while using the AudioCodes Mediant Modules along with fulfilling the density requirements for small locations.
Ports in varied FXO/FXS configurations such as multiples of 1, 2, or 4 E1/T1/J1 spans and up to 1 to 24 analog ports or 4 to 20 BRI ports can be supported and scaled by this compactly designed product. Media processing capabilities like play and record configurations and conferencing within an AudioCodes gateway with mixed digital or analog modules. A variety of telephony interfaces are further supported by the Mediant 1000 model of the AudioCodes Mediant gateways. In case of network problems or power failures, interfaces for switching over to the PSTN can be configured as regular E1/T1/J1 interfaces. Additional support can be provided by 1 or 2 paired spans, which act as life-line interfaces.
The role of a life-line interface for switching over to the PSTN is played by 1 FXS line, with regular FXS or FXO interfaces available as analog modules. Survivability challenge may be faced by customers who avail a connection to centralized IP-Centrex service. The same problem might be faced by branch offices of enterprises with IP-PBX servers that are centralized. SAS or the Stand Alone Survivability is based upon SIP B2BUA (Back to Back User Agent) functionality in the Mediant 1000 access gateways. This in turn helps in cases where connectivity with the centralized SIP server fails and Soft Phones and SIP IP are provided with back-up.
