Along a single Ethernet cable, the powered devices receives signal with the help of Power over Ethernet (POE). This technology is used for many purposes and telecommunication is a field where it is widely used. VoIP Phones use PoE switches to get power for operation. VoIP is the technology of the century, which has revolutionized the communication process. VoIP combined with Power over Ethernet (POE) can make communication effective. PoE VoIP Phones are widely used nowadays as these enhance the communication process of an organization. Many phone manufacturers offer VoIP phones to customers at nominal prices. These phones provide maximum facility to the users. Network communication is an important feature of these VoIP Phones, which contributes towards the progress of an organization.

Reliability is one of the greatest advantages of PoE VoIP Phones. As the data network, power is supplied over the same cable. The time and cost of installing separate power outlets and data network are saved to a great extent due to the PoE technology. The need for a dedicated Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) is also eliminated by the PoE technology. In the event of a power failure it is possible to centrally back-up IP telephones in a VoIP installation. The entire telephony network becomes reliable when a UPS is connected to a PoE mid-span in the communications room.

Polycom IP 550 PoE IP Phone is one of the most widely used VoIP Phones, which is used by business professionals across the country. Due to the HD voice technology, this phone provides the user with life-like richness and call clarity. It can be used with open SIP based IP PBX platforms and services along with Asterisk, Trixbox, and Switchvox. PoE VoIP Phones are gaining prominence in the present age due to their utility features. Further, these phones are available in compact sizes, which benefit the users.
