Gigabit Netgear Switch

Gigabit Netgear switch is a new addition amongst the products provided by the company, Netgear. This particular switch is designed specifically for SMB customers, and is supposed to provide high performance and easy maintenance. The GS108T switch is meant to extend network connections into department work groups, lobbies, labs and conference rooms. This in turn is a direct result of the 8 10/100/1000 Mbps ports that can power 2000 Mbps of data throughput in full-duplex mode per port. Varied kinds of bandwidth applications like ERP, large file transfers, security, multicasting, streaming media and Voice over Internet Protocol can be supported by the SMB networks based on the performance on the Netgear switch.

The features included in the GS108T Netgear switch are enhanced QoS, 802.1x port authentication, access control lists (ACL), IGMP snooping and rate limiting. These are meant to offer high performing and reliable network to small or medium-sized businesses, and play an elemental role in the growth of the organization. This particular model also provides support for Power over Ethernet to IEEE 802.3af standard. Furthermore, the device can be powered by both an external AC power adapter and a Power over Ethernet (PoE) source. Therefore, the user can even install the Netgear switch in areas with no outlet for direct power supply.

The device is capable of undertaking traffic prioritization, configuring and setting up VLANs and port trunks and monitoring switch performance. All this is possible based upon the intuitive web-browser interface, which comes along with the GS108T. Users can also manage their Smart Switch on the basis of the SNMP-based software included with the product. The switch plays a major role in managing the extended networks of the users and unmanaged networks in a basic manner. It is a cost-effective solution for monitoring performance, port configuration and link aggregation for increase in bandwidth.
